CANADA IS AT A PIVOTAL MOMENT IN CLIMATE POLICY
Centuries of extractive industry and colonial mindsets have put our communities in danger and created deep injustices in our society.
Canadians want our governments to take action, but Canada has a history of broken climate promises.
It’s time to end this legacy and put people and the planet first.
With the right policies and plans, we can ensure a just transition for workers and communities away from polluting fossil fuels, and towards clean energy from renewable sources like wind and solar. We can create healthier and more resilient communities, cleaner air and water, more efficient transportation, better jobs, a stronger economy, and a fairer and more caring society.
This means listening to science and to those on the front lines of the climate crisis.
We work across party lines to create political space and pressure for strong climate policy. We build consensus on policy issues, coordinate advocacy, and provide credible advice to government that comes with the strength of our network behind it.
Spending What it Takes: Transformational climate investments for long-term prosperity in Canada
The world is confronted with a slew of accelerating and converging crises, from climate change and biodiversity loss to energy insecurity, unaffordable living and rising inequality. In the face of these challenges, Canada must urgently and equitably decarbonize every sector of the economy both to contribute our fair share of the global climate effort and to ensure Canada’s longterm prosperity in a low-carbon global economy.
