Ami Gagne

Ami (she/her/elle) has been passionate about environmental advocacy since childhood, inspired by her mother’s efforts to raise awareness about plastic pollution in their community through neighborhood canvassing. Before joining CAN-Rac, Ami served as the Program Director at both Environmental Leadership Canada and GreenPAC, where she managed the Parliamentary Internship for the Environment Program – a national initiative focused on bridging environmental and federal politics for youth. Her experience spans various sectors, including environmental education, food waste management, clean technology, youth engagement, and environmental policy. She is also a board member of Green Communities Canada and a member of the Youth Steering Committee at Finance Engage Sustain (FES).

Ami is guided by understandings of positionality, power dynamics, and privilege, and embodies a relational approach to social and climate issues. Throughout her work, she advocates for cross-partisanship in politics and increasing active citizenship and political literacy in the environmental youth space.
