John joined the team as LNG Senior Strategist in June 2024. He brings decades of experience working on social and environmental justice issues, having previously been the founding executive director of ACORN Canada and seving as Communications Director at Oxfam Canada. John also has experience working in both federal and provincial politics.
Most recently, John was the BC Energy Transition Strategist for the David Suzuki Foundation, where he led the Foundation’s work on LNG issues.
John has been a commercial organic farmer in coastal BC and now grows all of his household’s food in the qathet region of BC’s Upper Sunshine Coast on traditional Tla’amin territory. John also spent three years in the Buddhist monastery of Zen master and peace/environmental activist Thich Nhat Hanh in France.
