Global Impacts

Unchecked, climate change will continue to have increasingly devastating consequences across the world.The effects of all three topics discussed below – that is, the ecological, economic and social impacts of climate change – are all inextricably linked. Climate change and its impacts are caused by humans and we need to take action now to avoid the worst and in the meantime we need to deal with the impacts and help vulnerable regions and populations adapt.

Ecological ImpactsEcosystems tend to be extremely sensitive to the impacts of climate change. The long-term changes in the climate can be devastating to all life forms sheltered in ecosystems and severely affect the services ecosystems provide to sustain and fulfill human life. Read more…. 

Economic ImpactsThe economic costs of coping with climate change will accelerate as the world gets warmer. The key economic impact is predicted to be property and infrastructure damage Climate change is expected to have a major impact on the world economy. Read more…. 

Social ImpactsClimate change threatens the basic necessities of people around the world. As the climate change hampers ecosystem services, it increasingly limits the availability of and access to the most basic elements of life such as food, water, health etc Read more…
