Technical Briefing on upcoming UN climate conference including Q&A (Phone/Webinar)
Thursday, November 7 at 10am
Climate Action Network Canada is pleased to invite media to a webinar-based technical briefing on the annual Conference of the Parties (COP 19) of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC). The webinar will take place Thursday, November 7 at 10am, in advance of the start of COP 19 beginning Monday, November 11. There will be opportunities for questions as part of the briefing as well as individual interviews following the briefing. The briefing will be delivered by Dr. Christian Holz, Executive Director of Climate Action Network Canada.
COP 19 comes on the heels of the recently released Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) report on the physical science basis for climate change, which stated with increased certainty that climate change is real, caused by human activity and requires urgent action. The conference is the first substantial step in the negotiation of a comprehensive global climate change agreement for the post-2020 period to be agreed to in Paris in 2015.
The following topics will be covered:
– Short background and current status of the UN climate negotiations process
– Expected and possible outcomes of COP 19
– The Canadian perspective, official positions and domestic context
If you are interested in attending, please RSVP to rbarnes@climateactionnetwork.
