Climate Action Network response to fossil fuel and subsidies annoucement from NDP
April, 2011
In response to Jack Layton’s announcement that the NDP will end subsidies to oil and gas and invest in renewable energy, Graham Saul, Executive Director of Climate Action Network Canada has responded as follows:
“The NDP’s announcement this morning that they plan to put an end to hand outs to big oil and invest more in clean energy is a promising start to the federal election campaign. We look forward to seeing the details of these plans, but there is no doubt that Canada needs to act fast to get on board with the clean energy revolution and a good way to finance part of this transition would be to end subsidies to oil and gas and re-invest in safe and reliable renewable energy. Canadians want a clean future and leaders need to have plans to make that happen.”
