0 This document outlines the speaking points for Commissioner Hedegaard at a meeting with President Dr Josef Waltl and Secretary General Ms Isabelle Muller in which the Fuel Quality Directive is discussed. One key speaking point was the subject of attributing specific values to tar sands crude oil, separating it into its own distinct class of GHG emission values.
Within the document it is also stated that ‘Canada has been lobbying the Commission and Member States intensively to avoid a separate default value for fuel derived from tar sands’, in regards to issues in the context of the EU-Canada Free Trade Agreement.
