The following letter was sent to the Globe and Mail
October 11, 2006
I really am excited about what is happening to Canada under Stephen Harper, we used to be so dull and boring and take ourselves so smugly serious. Now we can be proud that we don't have to abide by internationally legally binding obligations crafted in exotic places. (Aside: did Steve mean Bonn or Marrakech?)
Give me dull old corporate inspired Ottawa for crafting the truly made-in-Canada experience. I'd assume lots of Bushes will help shrub together a consultative process that will delay anything happening for a long time. Then we can develop a Clean Air Act and regulations to accomplish what could already happen under the Environmental Protection Act which about covers it all, smog to greenhouse gas (unfortunately not political rhetoric). Meantime Earth continues to suffer the significant effects of climate change.
