The 2006 United Nations Climate Change Conference

From November 6 to 17, 2006, the world’s governments met in Nairobi, Kenya for the annual United Nations climate change conference. The intent of the conference is to assess progress and undertake measures aimed at reducing greenhouse gas (GHG) pollution that causes climate change.

The formal name of the conference is the Twelfth Session of the Conference of the Parties to the Climate Change Convention (COP-12) and it was held concurrently with the Second meeting of the Parties to the Kyoto Protocol (COP/MOP 2 - the meeting of countries, including Canada, that have ratified the Kyoto Protocol).
