On September 21, 2009, members of the public and environment groups, including Sierra Youth Coalition and Climate Action Network Canada, participated in "flash mob" events across Canada.

The flash mob events - coordinated events organized via e-mail and social networking sites - were part of the Global Climate Wake Up Call, an international campaign calling on political leaders to sign a strong climate treaty at the December 2009 UN Climate Conference in Copenhagen. According to tcktcktck.org, over 2,600 events were held in 134 countries.
