A unique bilateral climate action plan is being implemented by New England and Eastern Canada under the auspices of the Conference of the New England Governors and Eastern Canadian Premiers. This region of 23 million people contributes nearly 1 trillion $US in gross internal product to the economies of the U.S. and Canada and accounts for 400 million tonnes of greenhouse gas emissions. The Conservation Council, with its partners from the Canadian Climate Action Network and the New England Climate Coalition will describe the potential contribution of this unique regional climate plan, the progress-to-date in the various jurisdictions, and the pitfalls along the way.
